Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War Sells Global Theatrical Rights for ₹300 Crore

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming magnum opus Love & War, starring superstar Ranbir Kapoor alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, has achieved a historic milestone ahead of its highly anticipated January 21, 2027 release. The film’s global theatrical rights have reportedly been acquired by Pen Marudhar for a record-breaking sum of ₹300 crore. This major deal followed an intense bidding war among prominent industry distribution giants, including Dharma Productions, Jio Studios, and distributor Anil Thadani.
The massive figure reflects immense trade confidence in what is being hailed as the biggest cinematic ensemble assembled by Bhansali. The project holds special significance as it marks Ranbir Kapoor’s grand reunion with the director 20 years after his debut in Saawariya. Industry insiders and stakeholders are confident that the star power of the leading trio, paired with Bhansali’s signature visual scale, will easily recover the heavy theatrical investment and generate substantial box-office profits worldwide.
Expectations for the romantic war drama have soared after the official first-look character posters took social media by storm last week. The visuals showcased a retro aesthetic, featuring Ranbir as a rugged army officer, Alia in a glamorous cabaret avatar, and Vicky in an intense, scarred persona. Following the massive response to the posters, the makers are now preparing to launch the film’s official teaser around Diwali alongside the release of Ramayana.
