Meenakshi Seshadri Relocates to Mumbai After 30 Years, Opens Up About Comeback Struggles: “I’m Managing This Journey on My Own”

Veteran Bollywood star Meenakshi Seshadri has officially relocated back to India after spending nearly three decades abroad. The actress, who famously walked away from the Hindi film industry at the absolute peak of her stardom in the late 1990s, revealed that she is actively looking to restart her acting career across mainstream films and streaming (OTT) platforms.

Her exit from showbiz remains one of Indian cinema’s most talked-about departures; in 1995, she married investment banker Harish Mysore and moved to the United States, completely distancing herself from the spotlight. Now, she is ready for a fresh chapter.

A Heartfelt Message to Fans from Mumbai to Boston

On May 25, 2026, the Damini actress shared a candid, two-minute video on her social media handles, addressing her followers directly about the realities of navigating a comeback in today’s entertainment landscape.

“A warm Namaste to my growing family of Instagram followers,” Seshadri said. “Today I want to sincerely thank each one of you for your love, encouragement and constant support. After 30 long years, I have relocated back to my Karmabhoomi, Mumbai, India and have stepped once again into the entertainment industry with hope, passion and positivity.”

The actress clarified that she is not hunting for specific top-billing slots but is focused purely on the weight of the character. “I’m really looking forward to meaningful opportunities, whether it’s a lead role, supporting character or even a short show. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s an impactful performance… I want to explore roles that challenge me as an artist and help me discover new dimensions of my craft.”

Navigating the Modern Industry Independently

While her return has sparked massive nostalgia and excitement online, the actress candidly acknowledged that breaking back into the industry has its hurdles. She revealed that though initial offers have come her way, finding the right fit has been difficult. Many of the scripts offered so far failed to excite her creatively.

A handful of promising discussions simply failed to materialize into signed contracts. In a striking revelation, Seshadri shared that she is navigating the modern corporate casting world entirely on her own strength. “I’m managing this journey on my own, without any agency. And your support means everything to me during this phase,” she stated.
