The case originated in August 2022 following the arrest of alleged trafficker Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, during which Mephedrone worth ₹1.19 lakh was seized. While Shaikh claimed to have supplied drugs to various celebrities at parties, investigators have concluded that these assertions are not supported by material facts.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell, which questioned several individuals in 2025, is now preparing a supplementary chargesheet that effectively exonerates the celebrities.
