Rohit Shetty Firing case: Police Arrest Four on Suspecting For a Murder Conspiracy

Four individuals arrested in connection with the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence were presented before an Esplanade court late Sunday. The court remanded them to police custody until February 5. According to authorities, the suspects conspired with a wanted individual, Shubham Lonkar, to orchestrate the attack, allegedly with the intent to kill the renowned director-producer.
The incident came to light after a security guard filed a complaint, reporting indiscriminate gunfire outside Shetty’s residence in the early hours of Sunday. While no injuries were reported, the police classified the case as an attempted murder and promptly registered an FIR, sparking an intensive investigation. Police sources revealed that one of the arrested men, Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (19), allegedly worked with Lonkar to plan the attack.
The group reportedly acquired a Honda Dio scooter (MH 12 FN 2205) to carry out the firing, with logistical assistance allegedly provided by accomplices, including Aditya Gyaneshwar Gayaki. Investigators believe the scooter was key to facilitating the crime near Shetty’s home.
Authorities claim that Lonkar, who remains at large, provided both financial and logistical support for the operation. The arrested suspects are said to have played critical roles in aiding the main shooter, with Lonkar reportedly coordinating parts of the plan from outside the Mumbai area. However, the specific motive behind the conspiracy has not yet been disclosed by investigators.
The police are also exploring possible connections between the attack and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal network implicated in several high-profile cases in recent years. Although officials have urged caution against premature speculation, multiple reports suggest that the gang may have been involved.
In a separate development, a social media post, allegedly from individuals claiming ties to the Bishnoi gang emerged, taking responsibility for the attack. The post referred to the firing as a “small trailer” and issued threats of further violence if certain demands were not met. Authorities are currently verifying the authenticity of the post and investigating whether it is linked to the arrests or represents an unrelated act of intimidation.
