Makers of Dhurandhar to Sell Broadcast Rights of Both Films Together: Report

In a significant move for one of Bollywood’s biggest franchises, the makers of Dhurandhar are reportedly planning to sell the broadcast rights for both installments of the spy thriller as a combined package. This strategy aims to boost revenue from television and related platforms ahead of the second film’s theatrical release. The first film, starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, was a major commercial success following its December 2025 release. Praised for its gripping plot, ambitious scale, and box office performance, Dhurandhar emerged as one of the year’s standout Hindi films.
According to a public notice in trade magazine Complete Cinema, director Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios are working to secure an exclusive license covering linear transmission and retransmission rights via satellite channels, DTH services, IPTV, cable, and other media for both films .A source familiar with the talks told Mid-Day, “Aditya and Jio Studios have started discussions with satellite channels. The first film is expected to begin airing from March 31, while the second installment releasing in theaters on March 19 — will hit TV screens approximately 117 days later, around four months after its theatrical debut.
Industry analysts view this bundled broadcast approach as a savvy business decision, reflecting strong confidence in the franchise’s enduring popularity. Dhurandhar broke multiple box office records during its theatrical run, and anticipation remains high for its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, slated for a Pan-India release in March 2026.Veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh told Mid-Day, “If true, it’s a practical move. Producers have often bundled two or three projects together to secure better deals. Given Dhurandhar’s record-breaking success, the makers can command premium terms.”
While negotiations are ongoing, plans are reportedly being finalized for broadcast deals across global markets, excluding China, Taiwan, and Macau. Neither the filmmakers nor Jio Studios have issued official statements on the media rights discussions and were unavailable for comment.
