On August 4, Song Yung-kyu, a well-known South Korean actor who starred in the hit action-comedy Extreme Job in 2019, went away. He was fifty-five. According to Korean media, which referenced the Yongin Dongbu Police Precinct, Song Yung-kyu was discovered by an acquaintance inside a car at approximately 8 a.m. local time. According to reports, the vehicle was parked at a Yongin, South of Seoul, apartment complex.
Additionally, there was no indication of foul play, according to the authorities. No suicide note was discovered either. The investigation is still under progress. Song reportedly had to deal with legal troubles after being caught driving under the influence in June. The actor had publicly apologized after the case was made public. Song was taken out of multiple scenes from the current TV show The Defects after the incident. Song also had to leave a Shakespeare in Love production. It was showing at the Seoul Arts Center’s CJ Towol Theater.
Song has previously appeared in a number of television programs, such as Disney+’s Big Bet, Netflix’s Narco-Saints, Tail of the Nine-Tailed, and Hyena. Prior to his passing, the actor filmed the drama The Defects and starred as Pator Yoon Se Hoon in ENA’s Monday–Tuesday serial Eye Shopping.
Song Young-kyu had been arrested for a DUI incident that happened in Yongin a week before to his passing. He tried to drive himself home while heavily intoxicated. “Since it is a pre-produced drama, filming has been completed, and it seems that editing will be kept to a minimum so as not to affect the flow of the plot or the viewer’s perception of the plot,” the Defects’ production team said in a statement following the incident.
The 1994 children’s musical Wizard Mureul marked the start of the actor’s professional career. The cause of death is unknown, though.
