Ramayana Glimpse Triggers ₹1,000 Crore Surge in Prime Focus Market Cap; Ranbir Kapoor to Invest ₹20 Crore: Reports Ask ChatGPT

The excitement surrounding Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part adaptation of the Indian epic, has extended well beyond the cinema halls, positively impacting investor confidence and significantly raising the market valuation of its producer, Prime Focus Studios. Backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, the film unveiled its first glimpse on July 3, sparking heightened anticipation among fans and investors alike.
Prime Focus Ltd, listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), had already experienced a notable 30% surge in its share price—from Rs 113.47 to Rs 149.69—between June 25 and July 1, following the board’s approval of a preferential issue of 462.7 million equity shares. However, the release of the Ramayana teaser gave the stock an even stronger lift.

On July 3, the day the glimpse premiered, Prime Focus shares soared to a peak of Rs 176, up from Rs 149.69 just two days earlier. This jump pushed the company’s market capitalization from Rs 4,638 crore on July 1 to a high of Rs 5,641 crore—an increase exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. By the market close, the price settled slightly to Rs 169, with the market cap hovering around Rs 5,200 crore.
Adding further momentum, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor is set to invest in Prime Focus Studios. As reported by Business Standard, Kapoor will be allotted 1.25 million shares of the company. While the exact acquisition price remains undisclosed, the current market valuation suggests his investment will be approximately Rs 20 crore.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is positioned as one of India’s most expensive and high-profile cinematic projects. The star-studded cast features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film also boasts a historic musical collaboration between AR Rahman and Hollywood legend Hans Zimmer, marking Zimmer’s Bollywood debut.
Scheduled for release in two parts, Ramayana will premiere Part 1 in theatres on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in 2027.
