Ranbir Kapoor’s Dhoom 4 Set to Begin Filming in April 2026: Report

Ranbir Kapoor is set to take the Dhoom franchise to new heights, as reports indicate he will star in Dhoom 4 in a sleek new avatar. The fourth installment of the popular action-heist series is being envisioned as a reboot, with Ayan Mukerji, director of Brahmastra, likely at the helm under the Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner.
New Vision for Dhoom 4
According to a report by Pinkvilla, YRF’s head honcho Aditya Chopra is personally invested in crafting a fresh vision for Dhoom 4. He is currently in the process of finalizing a script that honors the franchise’s legacy, collaborating with screenwriter Shridhar Raghavan. A source revealed, “Aditya Chopra has been closely involved in developing the story and screenplay of Dhoom 4 with Shridhar Raghavan. They are working on a story draft that lives up to the excitement surrounding this reboot.”
Ranbir as the Antagonist
The franchise, known for its suave anti-heroes, will continue this trend with Ranbir taking on the role of the antagonist. The source noted, “Ranbir is the perfect choice for Dhoom 4, and the character has been designed with his aura and personality in mind. The new film aims to meet global action standards, with a visual palette and storytelling approach that will differ significantly from the established YRF Spy Universe.”
Cast and Production Timeline
Details about the rest of the cast remain under wraps, including who will portray the roles of police officers Jai and Ali, originally played by Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. YRF plans to begin production for Dhoom 4 by April 2026, with a target to wrap filming by the end of the year. The makers are aiming for a release in 2027.

Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is working on Love & War alongside his real-life wife Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
