Anurag Basu at ‘Metro…In Dino’ Song Launch: Sequel Set Across 5 Cities, Konkona Sen Sharma Breaks Down Remembering Irrfan Khan

Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, music director Pritam Chakraborty, and singers Papon, Shashwat Singh, and Raghav Chaitanya gathered for the grand launch of the song ‘Zamaana Lage’ from the upcoming film Metro…In Dino. This film is a sequel to Life In A Metro (2007), which was also directed by Anurag Basu. While the original film was set in a single city, the video for ‘Zamaana Lage’ indicates a broader scope for the sequel.
When asked about the various locations featured in Metro…In Dino, Anurag Basu mentioned, “The story travels through Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, and a little bit of Pune.” He emphasized the film’s theme of connectivity, stating, “We are all connected today. There’s not much distance in today’s times. Our cities play important roles in our lives, whether it’s Mumbai, Delhi, or Kolkata. That’s how we’ve tried to portray it in this film.”Konkona Sen Sharma is the only actor returning for Metro…In Dino from Life In A Metro, where she starred opposite the late Irrfan Khan.
When asked if she and Anurag missed the legendary actor, Konkona responded, “We were just discussing that zamaane toh lagega unko bhoolne ke liye na! It happened many times. I don’t want to get into what and when. When you watch the film, you’ll understand!”Anurag Basu shared his thoughts, saying, “There were many moments in the film when we missed him. We were shooting a scene that had a similar tone to a previous one. In the middle of the shoot, there was a silent moment between me and Koko (Konkona), and she started crying. I guess we shouldn’t dwell on that now.”He added, “We miss him. We also miss K K, cinematographer Bobby Singh, and art director Rajat Poddar; all of them were integral parts of my team and are no longer with us. They would have been here today.”Metro…In Dino is set to hit theaters on July 4.
