Rohit Shetty is one of the most well-known Hindi cinema directors, with an unblemished track record. While preparing for the Diwali release of Sooryavanshi, the director is also working on the post-production of his next film, Cirkus, as well as the pre-production of his first web series. It is learned that Rohit Shetty is working on a cop-themed web series with Sidharth Malhotra, which will launch on Amazon Prime Video.
“Sid and Rohit have been discussing a probable collaboration for a while now and things have finally fallen in place with this web show. It will take off next year and will be helmed by debutant Sushwanth Prakash. Though it’s a cop-based series, the tone and treatment is very different from what the audience have seen in the digital world,” revealed a source close to the development to Pinkvilla.
Earlier speculations said that Sidharth, Vicky Kaushal, and Tiger Shroff would be the frontrunners for the series.
Rohit will not only produce the series, but will also serve as its showrunner, working closely on the narrative and action scenes of the yet-to-be-named show. Sidharth is also working on a film with Dharma Productions in addition to the aforementioned series. Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre directed this aerial action thriller. The film is also in the planning stages and should be released soon. He also has Thank God, directed by Indra Kumar, and Mission Majnu, a Ronnie Screwvala production.
When it comes to Rohit Shetty, his comedy escapade Cirkus is getting rave reviews in the industry and is set for a late 2022 release in theatres throughout the world. Following Cirkus, he will work with Ajay Devgn on the ambitious Singham 3, but the release date has yet to be determined. During his appearance on Bigg Boss alongside Salman Khan, the filmmaker hinted at the potential of his cop universe expanding further with the addition of Chulbul Pandey.
Rohit’s digital project is touted to be the platform’s most ambitious.
