Mission Mangal is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language drama film loosely based on real events directed and produced by Akshay Kumar, R. Balki, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu. The film stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya and Sonakshi Sinha and tells the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition.

Akshay said that he chose ‘Mission Mangal’ especially for his daughter and children of her age to familiarize them with the incredible true story of India’s mission to Mars. The movie, based on a true story of India’s mission to Mars, is about ordinary people achieving the extraordinary. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on August 15 this year.

Directed by the debut-making Jagan Shetty, the multi-star film features Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi alongside Kumar in key roles.The film is being produced by Kumar’s Cape of Good Films and Fox Star Studios along with R. Balki, who has previously directed Kumar in the socially relevant “Pad-Man.” And because of Balki, we are waiting to see how Amitabh Bachchan will be involved in it, though this time he is not the director.
