Have you ever watched any horror movie sending shiver down your spine based on true stories? Well, there a few that has the real background in a long list of movies that happens to be fiction in different film industries. In Hollywood, we can find some horror movies, which are based on real stories. How about taking a dig of top 5 horror movies, which are based on true stories as under:

1) The Amityville Horror:

It I base on an unassuming family comprising of people like John and Kathy Lutz, who along with their three children procure a huge Island home, which happened to be a place of mass murder. The family faces a series of haunted things, which forces them to flee from the home. They heard voices during the day, witnessed various cold spots inside the home and even saw a green, slime-like substance oozing out from the walls. Though the researchers strongly defy the authenticity of the story yet the film made on it is quite frightening.

2) The Entity:

This film might appear to be a most absurd horror story but it tells the real life story of a single mother called Carla Moran with three children, who are plagued by a supernatural entity that abuses and rapes her repeatedly. In 1974, paranormal researchers Kerry Gaynor and Barry Taff investigated the case of a woman named Doris Bither, who lived in Culver City, California and claimed to have been physically and sexually assaulted by an entity. The film is based on this incident and can give shiver to you.

3) The Exorcism of Emily Rose:

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

This film is based on a priest who is on trial for the death of a young woman called Emily Rose, whom he had performed an exorcism on. The movie showcases struggles of woman with being possessed and the priest’s trial, which strikes a debate between science and faith. The movie is based on the story of a 16-year-old German girl called Annelise Michel who started displaying symptoms of demonic possession like self-abuse, starvation and paralysis.

4) Wolf Creek:

Wolf Creek

It is a story from Australia which talks about a story of three backpackers who find themselves held captive by a serial killer in an outback. It is inspired by a real story of a serial killer, Ivan Milat, who killed seven backpackers around Belanglo State Forest in the ‘90s. Other than a body to be murdered, Milat offered no motive for his crimes. Simply bone chilling!

5) The Haunting in Connecticut:

The Haunting in Connecticut

The movie revolves around Campbell family who moves into a former mortuary in Connecticut to be close to the hospital in which their cancer suffering son is treated. They soon realize that the mortuary is actually a home to the malevolent forces, which are now after the Campbell family. The film was inspired by Carmen Snedecker and her family, with similar conditions having moved to Connecticut in the eighties to remain close to their son Phillip.
