5-Day Extended Weekend & Festive Buzz: Kartik Aaryan–Ananya Panday’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Lands in the Most Lucrative Box Office Window of 2025

Kartik Aaryan had a phenomenal 2024, riding high on the blockbuster success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. While fans speculated that 2025 might be a quiet year for him—especially after his untitled musical with Anurag Basu was postponed to early 2026—Dharma Productions recently dropped exciting news. Their upcoming film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan alongside Ananya Panday, is set to release on December 31, 2025.

The Christmas and pre-New Year period has long been a goldmine for Bollywood, and New Year’s Eve itself can generate tremendous box office revenue—especially when it falls strategically in the week. This year, December 31 lands on a Wednesday, and although it’s not a public holiday, people typically wind down work by late afternoon and transition into celebration mode, leading to increased cinema attendance.

January 1 is a national holiday, which historically boosts box office numbers. Past hits like PK (2014) saw a 55% jump on January 1, earning ₹14.05 crore; Dangal (2016) jumped 39% with ₹32.04 crore; Simmba (2018) recorded a 33% increase, collecting ₹28.19 crore; and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) surged 52%, earning ₹17.97 crore on January 1, 2023.Typically, collections dip on January 2 as the holiday season ends.

However, in 2026, January 2 falls on a Friday, which means steady business will likely continue, followed by another boost over the weekend.Effectively, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri will enjoy a five-day extended festive window right out of the gate. If the film’s content resonates with audiences, it has strong potential to dominate the box office.

Having said that, competition looms. Alpha, a Yash Raj Films release starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol, will hit screens on December 25. Despite the War 2 disappointment, the franchise and star power could draw big crowds. Additionally, Avatar: Fire And Ash is slated for December 19, which might create screen-sharing challenges for the romcom.

However, with the friendly rapport between Yash Raj’s Aditya Chopra and Dharma’s Karan Johar, an amicable distribution of shows seems likely. If the trailer for Kartik and Ananya’s film connects with viewers, 2025 will close on a thrilling high note.
