5 Bollywood actresses who will soon be seen essaying the role of sportswomen on screen

Bollywood has produced various films highlighting the remarkable journey and dedication of Indian sportswomen, ranging from Mary Kom to Dangal. We’ve compiled a list of actresses who will soon be playing athletes on the big screen, ahead of a slew of female-led sports films.

1. Saiyami Kher in ‘Ghoomer’:

Saiyami Kher, best known for her role in ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows,’ will soon be seen in R. Balki’s ‘Ghoomer,’ playing a cricketer. In this film, the actor will share screen time with Abhishek Bachchan, who will play her coach. Saiyami has an interesting background in cricket, having represented Maharashtra at the school level and even making the national team. As a result, we may expect her to nail the role of a cricketer!

2. Anushka Sharma in ‘Chakda Xpress’:

In her forthcoming film ‘Chakda Xpress,’ Anushka Sharma will play Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The video follows the inspirational journey of India’s most famous fast bowler, Jhulan Goswami. The film chronicles the highlights of Jhulan’s career, from persuading her parents and shattering prejudices to her ascension to become one of India’s greatest female cricketers. The film will be available on Netflix in the second quarter of 2022.

3. Taapsee Pannu in ‘Shabaash Mithu’:

Taapsee Pannu is scheduled to return to the big screen as Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team, in ‘Shabaash Mithu,’ which is the official biopic of Mithali Raj, following her role as Shooter Dadi Prakashi Tomar in Saand Ki Aankh. We wish Taapsee all the best for her next sports drama based on our country’s most popular sport!

4. Janhvi Kapoor in ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’:

Mr & Mrs. Mahi, produced by Karan Johar and directed by Sharan Sharma, will reunite Janhvi Kapoor with Rajkummar Rao. The film is set in the world of cricket, and the Dhadak star will portray Mahima. While the premise of the film hasn’t been divulged, we do know that Mr. And Mrs. Mahi is said to be a beautiful story about cricketing aspirations. 5. Rasika Dugal in ‘Spike’:

Rasika Dugal is leading the cast of ‘Spike,’ a Hindi-language sports drama. Her recent credits include the second instalment of the hit Amazon series ‘Mirzapur.’ Dugal will portray a volleyball coach in the series, which was created by Nishtha Shailajan and Dhaval Shah. The actress spent three months in Mumbai practising volleyball as part of her preparation for the role. With such a strong cast of characters on board, we have big hopes for this one!
