India is Celebrating Kargil Vijay Divas & 20 Years Later The Pride We Feel Is Unmatched
No matter what they say about the shortcomings of the Bollywood film fraternity, India always displays pride in the most dramatic manner. Over the years, many films have paid tribute to martyrs and shown the struggles and problems of being an army person. Two decades after India’s victory in the Kargil War, on 26thJuly 2019, celebrities share their views and their respect for all those that lost their lives in the name of our country. Bollywood has immortalized this historic victory with some of the greatest war movies ever made.
‘Lakshya’ starring Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles, directed by Farhan Akhtar is set against a fictional backdrop of 1999 Kargil War. This movie is inspirational as it showcases the transformation of a lazy boy into a responsible army officer. Many youngsters were positively impacted by the message of this film and this only goes to show that whenever Bollywood focuses on quality content, the films that churn out are awe-inspiring.
‘Tango Charlie’ follows the journey of Tarun Chauhan from a police veteran to a war-hardened fighter in the Indian Border Security Force. Featuring Bobby Deol, Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Shetty as the leads, the film has moments of seriousness and such immense fear that the audience gets the taste of the reality on ground zero during war. These films were hits in the box office because of the touch of Bollywood in making such stories riveting, but the actual story itself is intense as well.
On this occasion, many actors took to social media to salute the brave hearts for their sacrifices for the nation. Amitabh Bachchan tweeted “To the brave shaheed of our army, I had the honor to give my voice for this creative film, but even if I’m asked to give my blood for the nation, I will.” Akshay Kumar shared a video of soldiers singing his song from the film Kesari and wrote “Came across the heart-warming video which made my day. When your small tribute reached the people it’s meant for, what more can you ask for. A million salutes to our #BharatKeVeer.” Many other actors and celebrities are sharing their respect, and we are proud to say, India really does come together in times of crisis or celebrations.
