We saw the Madras HC directing as many 37 ISPs to black their websites that turned out to be a whopping 12,000 sites mainly carried out by the website called TamilRockers. Despite this direction, which came on the plea of the production company, the film starring the South Superstar and Akki was leaked over the internet. In fact, it was the same time TamilRockers that made this possible releasing the leaked print claimed the media reports. The high budget movie, which was made at a whopping cost of 550 million had to suffer a big loss with this leakage. This very fear had earlier called upon the makers to seek the help of the Madras High Court, but it seems to have gone on vain.
It was Justice M Sundar who has passed the order to block more than 12000 sites just to address the issue of copyright gone rampant in the past few days in the form of piracy. However, it was the same site that embarked upon its own URL to leak the movie appeared on the first day itself. Talking about the issue, a senior from the cyber crime department revealed that the site TamilRockers is not owned and run by a single person or company, it has people scattered all around the world who operate thus nabbing anyone sitting outside the country becomes difficult. This time they have used the proxy servers that are based in countries like Russia to leak the film. To act upon them would be a problem as India is not having such relations to nab the cybercriminals based in the said nation.
Also, the official said that a number of activists and people are not in the favour of having copyrights hence they support such leakage. This makes cracking down the lobby behind leaking the movies online a difficult job. As the film released, the makers tweeted through the Lyca handle requesting people to catch the films only in the theatres by saying no to piracy. But it seems that with all the preventive measurements the makers are losing money with the leakage of the film on the internet. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us.
