12 Years of Love Aaj Kal: “I believe, was simply beautiful; inside out”, says Deepika Padukone on her character ‘Meera’

Deepika Padukone has proven her versatility in her films time and time again. Love Aaj Kal by Imtiaz Ali, on the other hand, is one of her most remembered pieces. Not only was she praised for her portrayal of Meera in the film, but it also turned out to be one of the actress’ favorite roles.

As the film ticks 12 years, the actor took a trip down memory lane to honor her character ‘Meera.’

Speaking about the film, Deepika says, “I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since Love Aaj Kal already!Meera, I believe, was simply beautiful; inside out. A character many related to at the time. Just reminiscing about all those months we spent filming in Delhi and London, brings a smile to my face.”

It was the actress’s first collaboration with filmmaker Imitaz Ali, who is recognized for his films featuring strong female characters. Deepika’s performance as the free-spirited Meera, which was highly welcomed by fans and is still vivid in the memories of the audience, was a take on modern-day relationships.

The actress’ career trajectory is legendary, with a success record that is second to none.

The film, which was produced by Khan and Dinesh Vijan, was well-received by critics and spectators alike. Saif Ali Khan was seen opposite Deepika in the film and the on screen couple was loved by the audience.

Ali made a modern remake of the film in 2020, with a similar subject of two love stories set in Udaipur in the early 1990s and current-day Delhi.

The film, which stars Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan did not go well with the audience and critics.
