Bell Bottom: The team of Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom may be reconsidering its theatrical release?

Bell Bottom was one of the first few films to take the initiative and announce its July 27th release date. However, with the Covid-19 situation throughout the country failing to improve dramatically and key cities still reporting a significant number of cases, the reopening of movie theatres remains a question mark. The crew behind Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom may be reconsidering its theatrical release, according to ETimes.

On June 15, producer Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment announced the film’s July 27 release date, making it the first major picture to hit theatres since lockdown 2.0 went into force.

Raj Bansal, a leading distributor and multiplex owner from Rajasthan talked about about the release being pushed to mid-August, “Looking at the current situation I don’t think cinemas will fully open by 27 July so there is every chance ‘Bell Bottom’ may release on 13 August,” he told Pinkvilla.

A source close to the unit told the leading daily, “There is no decision taken on ‘Bell Bottom’ yet as theatres are yet to open in the country.”

Last year, Akshay Kumar and his crew were among the first to fly outside of India to begin filming for Bell Bottom. The team completed the spy thriller, which stars Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta, and Vani Kapoor, in a start-to-finish timetable. The film shoot, directed by Ranjit Tewari, garnered headlines for its model on-set COVID management and completion in record time.

‘Bell Bottom’ is a spy thriller directed by Ranjit Tewari and stars Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta and Vaani Kapoor.
