Why Shah Rukh Khan Will Receive ₹9 Crores from the Government?

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, renowned for his opulent residence Mannat in Bandra, is poised to receive a substantial refund from the Maharashtra government concerning the land on which his iconic home is situated. Reports indicate that the actor is set to recover Rs 9 crore following a calculation error related to a land payment made in 2019. This refund is expected to be approved soon, as it was revealed that an excess payment was made during that year.
Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, leased the property, which spans 2,446 square meters, through a registered agreement in 2001. In accordance with state policy, the couple paid 25 percent of the ready reckoner price for the land, which was estimated at around Rs 27.50 crore in March 2019.Upon reviewing the payment, authorities identified a miscalculation and are now in the process of refunding the Rs 9 crore to the Khans. This development brings relief to the family, who had complied with the regulations but discovered that the payment was higher than necessary.
Shah Rukh Khan has often expressed how much Mannat means to him. In the 2005 documentary The Inner World of Shah Rukh Khan, he shared his heartfelt connection to the property, stating, “Buying this house has been one of the most difficult things I’ve done in my life. I didn’t have a home after my parents passed away; I have a house fetish. I’ve always wanted a home. I got this house when I had kids.
This is my family’s house, and someday my great-grandchildren will live here like an old Parsi family. ”As the refund process unfolds, it underscores not just a financial resolution but also the enduring significance of Mannat in Shah Rukh Khan’s life and legacy.
