Varun Dhawan’s Team Talks on No Fine or Legal Action Over Viral Mumbai Metro Video

The team of actor Varun Dhawan has issued an official statement addressing the viral Mumbai Metro video that made headlines around Republic Day, clarifying that no fine, penalty, or legal action has been taken against the actor. This comes a day after the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) had publicly cautioned Varun over his behaviour inside a metro train during the promotions of Border 2.In their statement,
Varun Dhawan’s team said,“We would like to address recent reports regarding Varun Dhawan and the Mumbai Metro. We wish to clarify that no fine or penalty of any kind has been issued to Varun. The earlier post by the authorities has been taken down, and we appreciate their cooperation in clearing up this misunderstanding.”
They further emphasized,“Varun holds the utmost respect for the city’s rules and the Metro department’s efforts. We confirm there are no pending issues and thank the media for sharing this accurate update.” The clarification follows a video circulating on social media showing Varun playfully hanging from grab handles and vertical poles inside a Mumbai Metro train during Border 2 promotions. The clip quickly went viral, with many fans enjoying it as a light-hearted moment.
However, MMMOCL responded with a serious advisory on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, warning that such behaviour might violate the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002. The post, though humorous in tone, cautioned about possible penalties or imprisonment depending on the offence. The Metro authority later removed the advisory, allowing Varun’s team to clear the air.
The incident sparked discussions about celebrity responsibility in public spaces and their influence on younger audiences. With the matter now resolved, attention returns to Varun Dhawan’s professional work as he continues to engage with fans while reaffirming his respect for public rules and institutions.
