The Screenwriters Association is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Year in the year 2020. The SWA Awards 2020 has been announced on this occasion. Under this, for the first time in India, writers of media world will also be honored. Under this, writers and lyricists of Hindi films, TV serials, and web series will be awarded for their excellent writing.
SWA has started this award to honor and encourage excellent screenwriting. In this award ceremony, authors will be judged and appreciated not on ticket window figures, TRPs, budget etc. but on the basis of their authorship quality. A jury will choose the winners from among the enlightened writers-songwriters.
Many award ceremonies are held every year in India. But it is generally seen that in these ceremonies, writers are given awards in the technical category like Khanapurti. Not only that, it is said that writers awards are judged low on quality, but also on popularity or box office or other business standards.
For the first award, Hindi feature films, television shows and web series released in 2019 will be considered. These three genres will race for awards in a total of 15 categories for Best Script, Screenplay, Dialogue, Best Song.
While all feature films released in 2019 will automatically be considered for awards in the feature film categories, on the other hand, authors of television shows and web series will have to apply by visiting the SWA website. The submission process will continue from 20 December 2019 to 20 January 2020.
This application can be submitted from 20 December 2019 to 20 January 2020. The award ceremony will be held on 16 May 2020 at St. Andrews Auditorium, Bandra (West), Mumbai.
