This Friday had two films to release, which include the biopic film called Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in the leading roles. The film happened to be in news since it was announced as it carries one of the best star cast and the veteran director like Meghna Gulzar who has given big films like Talwar and Raazi. Thus it was obvious to see the good buzz in the media.
This has led to a decent amount of advance booking for the film as well. Needless to say that the visit of Deepika Padukone at JNU to meet the injured students too has created a controversy in the media with people on the right-wing side who have been condemning her and putting efforts to boycott her film. However, on the other side, we see the other political parties like Samajwadi and Congress promoting the film for its rich content and struggle story of the lady.
Well, talking about the way the film has performed, it started with the occupancy of 35 per cent that soared for the evening shows reaching to 80 to 90 per cent as well. People in big numbers were seen turning up for it because they wanted to support Deepika for the agitation going on against her by some fringe group. As per reports, the 1st-day box office collection for Chhapaak went to score around 11.50 Crores. The weekend is likely to be big for the film. Although it faced a bit of competition from the other film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, still it did well at the box office and is likely to do well in the first weekend as well.
