Did you know? Aamir Khan’s son Junaid was supposed to play Laal Singh Chaddha!
Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s latest release ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is all set for its theatrical release and the actor is excited since this movie is his passion project. The Dangal actor is known for doing one movie at a time to completely get into his character. While the movie has less than two weeks to debut, the actor interacted with the media to share some interesting stories about this upcoming project.
Khan told that he wanted his son Junaid Khan to play the lead in Laal Singh Chaddha during the film’s pre-production process. Not just this, Junaid also gave a video test for this role.
The actor told: “I wasn’t sure whether it will be possible for Advait Chauhan to direct this kind of movie. Advait directed Secret Superstar in 2017 and it is his only project to date. So, I asked him to direct some important sequences from the movie as a part of the test. But, I am not going to act in this trial shoot.”
He further added:” My son Junaid had just arrived from the USA after pursuing his acting studies. I asked him to play the main role of Laal Singh Chadha in this mock shoot. In this way, I can target two birds with one arrow. I can look over Chandan Advait’s direction and also check Junaid’s acting skills. After the shoot, I and my ex-wife were highly impressed with Junaid’s acting. This is when I decided to launch his acting career with Laal Singh Chaddha.
Do you know what made him change his mind and act in the film himself? The writer of the movie, Atul Kulkarni and Aditya Chopra opposed his idea. According to their opinion, the plot of the movie is not too strong for the debut of a fresh face. It has separate and loosely connected episodes which will only work in favor if Aamir or any well-known actor like him plays the character. Aamir agreed with them and started growing his beards again to match the role.
The actor himself is producing this movie and is greatly inspired by his son’s performance during the mock shoot. He feels that Junaid is better than him and he took up this role influenced by him. He saw the character in his son’s eyes and became Laaal Singh Chaddha in the upcoming movie.
Aamir will be seen alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in this soon-to-release movie, It is scheduled for August 11 release and will compete with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan at the box office.
