Karan Johar is a known filmmaker in B Town and keeps on coming up with one film or the other in B Town. The film directed by Punit Malhotra – Student of The Year 2 remains the latest addition from his production house. The film produced under Dharma Productions seemed to be a semi hit with the collection reaching to 60 crores at the box office. The film did well at the box office on the first day and even at the first weekend closing to 40 crores but the collection dipped badly becoming half of the collection.
On the other side, the Mahesh Babu starrer film Maharshi did well at the box office and even went higher when compared to STOY2. This makes us to question, is Karan Johar getting another flop film within a month. Kalank too failed to impress the audience despite going high at the box office. Both the film so far have underperformed and with the advent of Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer film De De Pyaar De, the collection of STOY2 is likely to be hampered in a big way.
As per the trade pundits, Karan Johar has now check his collaborations with Fox Star Studio as his both the films with the group have been underperforming at the moment. Now, the big question who is going to refund on the huge investment made on both the films. The trade experts feel that the makers have to rethink about the strategy in the coming days.
