After the preview version of the 3-minute trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s survival drama Aadujeevitham got leaked online, Prithviraj himself decided to release the trailer on his social media. Sharing the trailer he wrote, “Yes, it was unintentional. No, it wasn’t meant to be “leaked” online. But I guess by now most of you know that the AADUJEEVITHAM trailer, cut exclusively for the festival circuits is online. The trailer immediately draws your attention to Prithivraj Sukumaran as Najeeb, a Keralite migrant worker who has just arrived in Saudi Arabia in pursuit of a suitable job. He has left behind his loving wife (played by Amala Paul) and his community in quest of a better future, but he finds himself on a goat farm where he is made to work as a slave. There he befriends another man (Jimmy Jean-Louis) who is going through the same struggles. The film follows his perilous struggle to liberation against all difficulties.

The astonishing physical transformation of Prithviraj Sukumaran is the first thing that takes your breath away. According to rumors, the actor had to lose 24kgs in order to fit into the role. The film was shot in Algeria, Jordan, and India, but production was halted owing to the outbreak of Covid-19. The film’s actors and crew were stuck in the desert, and the Government of India was forced to organise a special flight to bring them back.

Aadujeevitham, directed by Blessy and starring Amala Paul, is based on Benyamin’s best-selling novel of the same name. A. R. Rahman wrote the film’s original score and songs. The film began production in March 2018, and post-production is still ongoing.
