Filmmaker Chinmoy’s touching ode to the Iconic singer Arun Das

Renowned Assamese filmmaker Chinmoy Kashyap recently took to social media to pay an emotional tribute to the late legendary singer Arun Das. The director released a heart-stirring rendition of Arun Das’s timeless melody Tumi Janu as an ode to the late singer’s musical brilliance.

Chinmoy Kashyap fondly remembers his childhood, growing up listening to the soulful melodies of Arun Das. The musical maestro’s soulful creations played a pivotal role in shaping Chinmoy’s musical sensibilities. Arun Das’s symphonies resonated with many and left an indelible mark on his listeners and musical enthusiasts alike.

Chinmoy, when stepped on stage for the first time picked Tumi Janu to pay homage to the legendary singer. The song Tumi Janu is filled with emotional depth and nostalgic resonance that makes it the perfect song for a special tribute. The rendition is the filmmaker’s heartfelt acknowledgment of the immense impact Arun Das has had on him as an artist.

Chinmoy also highlighted the tremendous contributions made by Arun Das to Assam’s music. The filmmaker added that the late singer was one of the first rock stars in Assam. Arun Das is also credited with bringing electric guitar to Assamese music, adding a touch of modernity and uniqueness. Chinmoy recognized the late legend’s pioneering efforts and his contributions to paving the way for future generations of musicians in the state.

Despite having such a tremendous impact on Assamese music, Arun Das remained as an underrated singer throughout his lifetime. Chinmoy expressed his anguish that the late legend did not receive the limelight & recognition he deserved. By dedicating this homage to Arun Das, Chinmoy has attempted to shed light on the musical brilliance which largely went unnoticed.

Chinmoy is a filmmaker who has worked as a director in over 35 ad films. Hailing from Assam, he is now making inroads in the Hindi cinema.
