Doctor Strange’s Chiwetel Ejiofor Joins Tom Hardy In ‘Venom 3’

The anti-hero film series Venom, starring Tom Hardy, is slowly gaining appeal around the world. After delivering two consecutive hits, the creators are hard at work on the third installment. And now, after defeating Cletus Kasady aka Carnage, Tom Hardy’s ‘Venom’ is ready to face a new adversary, who will be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. According to Deadline, the actor will follow up his appearance in Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last year with a cameo in Sony’s Universe of Spider-Man Characters.

Because Chiwetel Ejiofor played Baron Mordo in Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, the casting move has already raised many eyebrows among MCU and Venom fans. Fans are speculating if he would reprise his role as Baron Mordo in some capacity in Venom 3 or if he will portray a different character entirely. Some fans have already speculated that this casting could be a clue that both companies are preparing for a future crossover between two realms.

The Venom franchise has been a box office hit for Sony, with the first two films grossing over 1.3 billion dollars worldwide. The success of the franchise has already raised expectations of fans from the third film. Based on the expected production schedule, it’s more than possible we’ll see Venom’s return on big screen sometime in 2024. The third part is helmed by Kelly Marcel who was also the writer of the first two parts.

Chiwetel Ejiofor has had his fair share of hits, notably his Oscar-nominated performance in 12 Years a Slave. He most recently appeared in ‘The Pod Generation,’ which premiered at Sundance, where he was seen sharing screen with Emila Clarke. He will be seen in ‘Rob Peace,’ which he also directed.
