Bollywood’s iconic singer Bappi Lahiri passes away at the age of 69

Indian cinema’s iconic singer and Bollywood‘s very own Goldman Bappi Lahiri passes away at the age of 69. The legendary singer took his last breath on Tuesday night, 15th February. The singer was admitted to Criticare Hospital in Mumbai’s Juhu area, where he breathed his last at 11:45 pm.

The Director of the hospital Dr. Deepak Namjoshi released an official statement that read, “Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight.”

Bappi Da was truly known as Disco King of ’80s and 90’s. The former singer gave tremendous hit tracks to the industry, especially for his widely popular songs for films such as Namak Halaal, Disco Dancer, and Dance Dance. In the recent, Lahiri had crooned songs such as Ooh La La for The Dirty Picture, Tune Maari Entriyaan for Gunday, Tamma Tamma for Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and more recently, Areey Pyar Kar Le for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. He last composed the song Bhankas for the 2020 movie Baaghi 3.

Last year, Lahiri was admitted to Breach Candy hospital after being diagnosed with Covid-19. After getting discharged from there, the singer bashed the news of about his health. He said, “I am shocked to see so many reports stating that I’ve lost my voice. It’s ridiculous and I’m really unhappy.”
