Vicky Kaushal to star in legendary Indian Hockey player Dhyan Chand’s biopic?
Vicky Kaushal, who recently completed shooting of Sam Manekshaw’s biopic, ‘Sam Bahadur’ is in talks for yet another biopic. According to latest media reports, Vicky Kaushal is set to star in the biopic of legendary Indian Hockey player Dhyan Chand. If it indeed turns out to be true, then this will be Vicky’s third biopic after Sardar Uddham Singh and Sam Bahadur.
The biopic will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under his home production ‘RSVP. It will be Vicky’s fourth project under and Ronnie’s home production post Love Per Square Foot (2018), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) and upcoming biopic Sam Bahadur (2023). In fact Vicky was also working on Ronnie Screwvala’s highly anticipated mythological action drama ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ which as of now stands shelved due to inflated budget.
The biopic of Dhyan Chand, who is regarded as one of the finest Hockey players in the history of the sport, was first announced in December 2020. The biopic will be helmed by Abhishek Chaubey of Udta Punjab fame. Announcing the film, makers had shared on Twitter, “1500+ goals, 3 Olympic gold medals, and a story of India’s pride. It gives us immense pleasure to announce our next with #AbhishekChaubey – a biopic on the Hockey Wizard of India – #DHYANCHAND.”

Makers have kept the details about the biopic of Dhyan Chand, including the film’s cast and other crew members under wraps.
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal confirmed the completion of Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ last month on social media. The biopic, which is slated to arrive in cinemas on 1 December 2023, also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. Apart from Sam Bahadur biopic, Vicky has Laxman Utekar’s upcoming directorial venture with Sara Ali Khan, and Anand Tiwari’s next opposite Tripti Dimri.
