Shahid Kapoor feels it is important to experience negative characters in his career

Shahid Kapoor is all excited about his upcoming movie “Kabir Singh”. The action thriller is based on Telugu hit “Arjun Reddy”. He actually started with a chocolaty romantic image from Ishq Vishk but along the way, he diverted and stunned his fans by playing the flawed character in Kaminey, Udta Punjab. After a few rom-coms he paved out a challenging path. His career took a U-turn. This time again, he is back with a negative character in his movie. During an interview with PTI, Shahid, shared his views about playing negative roles, “Nobody else had the guts to play these characters. Maybe because I am my father’s son, I felt the need to play such flawed characters.”
He was applauded for his role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Haider”. The movie was based on the Shakespearean classic Hamlet. It was set in Kashmir and he portrayed as a young student who gets involved in the politics. Followed by his role in Udta Punjab, he played a drug addict rapper Tommy Singh and now back in Kabir Singh, he will play a doctor who inclines into self-destruction and alcoholism when he suffers heartbreak.

Shahid Kapoor strongly feels that the audience has changed their perception of negative characters. The real skills are appreciated, “Ranveer did a negative character in ‘Padmavat’, Rajkummar (Rao) and Vicky (Kaushal) have played interesting characters. Now everyone is getting there. But I felt the need to do it pretty early (in my career).” “I’ve made many mistakes as well but the thing with choices is, they are always judged in retrospect of the result,” the actor said.

The movie is expected to lend a huge turnout. The interesting plot and star cast expects to attract the crowd. “Kabir Singh” is ready for release on 21st June 2019. We wish Shahid all the best for his venture.
