100 Best Films of 21st century by The Guardian has Gangs Of Wasseypur at 59th position

For the fans of Anurag Kashyap, it’s a big news as we hear that his film Gangs of Wasseypur has been chosen in the list of the 100 best films of 21st century by the reputed news organ from the UK called The Guardian. The said news group released the said list and it is a proud moment for the filmmaker to see his movie on the 59th position. It was named just after Andrea Arnold’s film Wuthering Heights released in 2011 at 58th position.

The review committee comprising of people like Peter Bradshaw, Andrew Pulver, Catherine Shoard and Cath Clarke was the one who prepared this list. The publication group then presented this list. The top five films in the said list include There Will Be Blood by Paul Thomas Anderson released in 2007, 12 Years A Slave by Steve McQueen released in the year 2013, Boyhood released in 2014 by Richard Linklater, Under The Skin by Jonathan Glazer released in 2013 and The Mood For Love released in the year 2000 by Wong Kar-Wai.

Talking about the Anurag Kashayp’s film Gangs of Wasseypur, it was released in the year 2012, which was released in two parts by Anurag Kashayp within a time frame of three months. It was an action drama inspired by local mafia gangs and their families that fight for supremacy over one another. The films were critically acclaimed and was applauded by the critics and audience as it involved lots of hard work and research. With including this film in the said list, its a big achievement for Anurag Kashyap and his team.
