Rani Mukerji Playfully Jabs at Karan Johar as He Discloses Inquiring Alia Bhatt About Wearing a Chiffon Saree: ‘They’re Lucky; Nobody Asked Us
Karan Johar has openly acknowledged his tendency to push his actresses to extreme lengths during film shoots. In a recent round table conference, Karan Johar disclosed that he had made Rani shoot for a song in -14 degrees. Not only that, he had even planned a rain sequence, but the freezing temperature caused the water to freeze. He also mentioned asking Alia about wearing a chiffon saree for a song in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Rani humorously commented on this, highlighting the stark contrast of their experiences by saying, “They’re so lucky that they’re being asked. In our time, nobody asked us if we’re feeling cold. ‘Wear the saree, perform.'”
During the round table conference with Galatta Plus, Karan Johar shared an incident from the shoot of ‘Tumhi Dekho Naa’ from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, where he made Rani Mukerji shoot in a chiffon saree in -14 degrees. Reflecting on his past decisions, he acknowledged his own eccentricity, stating, “I was so crazy at that time. In -14 degrees, I said I want rain. So, there was a rain machine, but before it reached them, it turned into ice. We had a health and safety department saying, ‘You’ll kill them.'”
Rani Mukerji further revealed that she had actually frozen while wearing a red chiffon saree during the shoot, and her cousin Ayan, who was assisting in the production, had to carry her to her car. She candidly shared, “If you see the song, in the lip-sync, my lips are frozen. I’m trying to sing it, and it looks sensuous, but it’s not sensuous actually.”
The discussion also brought up Alia Bhatt’s experience of shooting for a song wearing a chiffon saree in cold temperatures just three months after delivering her baby girl Raha.
