Javed Akhtar gets trolled for praising Indian Idol 12 contestant Shanmukhapriya

Indian revision’s reality shows are always under the scanner for their controversies mostly. Once such a show is Indian Idol 12, the singing reality show is creating headlines every week for different reasons. This time the makers of the show decided to do a special episode dedicated to legendary poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Javed Sahab faced the heat on the internet as he praised one of the contestants of the show Shanmukhapriya.
Time and again it has called out by the audience that Shanmukhapriya’s singing talent is questionable. Most people feel that she’s mostly shouting in her performance rather than singing. When she chose Helen’s iconic song ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chuv’ people thought she is spoiling the song.

However, Javed Akhtar was seen praising the contestant he said and quoted by Koimoi, “How do people react to your performance on social media. I think you should be criticized a lot? Do they talk nasty about you, they do right? They should do it. Because if a girl as smart, as confident and competent as you comes on stage, people from India will never appreciate her. They get insecure. They prefer girls who are underconfident and are not sure of their decisions. But you on the other hand feel nobody else can perform better than me. And I feel this is one of your bad qualities (he said in a sarcastic way).”

This lit the fire on social media. Netizens accused Javed Akhtar of faking his praises for the Indian Idol 12 contestant.
