Godhra movie teaser sparks yet another debate among netizens about whether it is based on a factual story or is it another propaganda film

Few films have been made in the aftermath of the 2002 Godhra riots, one of the darkest episodes in Indian movie history. And now we have Godhra, a new project based on the same incident.

The film’s makers have now released the first teaser, which implies that the film will go further to find out what prompted the riots and whether there was any well-thought-out conspiracy engaged behind this terrible occurrence or was it simply a fit of rage.

The pictures in the short 1 minute 11 second teaser also make it apparent that the film is based on the Nanavati Commission report. The film’s release date has yet to be confirmed.

The teaser’s official note stated, “This film was made after a lot of hard work and five years of research.” During the study for this film, several disturbing truths were unearthed, which are well portrayed in the film with proof.”

Taran Adarsh, a film analyst, tweeted the trailer on Twitter. It’s already gotten a lot of attention. While some praised the teaser, it has also sparked some debate and many chastised the filmmakers for creating yet another propaganda film after ‘The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files..

“B-wood is taking an ugly turn to cash in on the emotions of the people, the south is far better,” one person remarked.

“Isko v propaganda kahne wala chakka kaha hai,” another person remarked.

One more user wrote, “Yeh sahi formula pakad liya apni film hit karwane ka.”

Godhra is directed by MK Shivaaksh and produced by Ramkumar Pal through Sakshat Entertainments and Artverse Studios.

For the uninitiated, the Godhra train burning episode is one of the most horrible and contentious incidents in modern Indian history. In 2002, 59 Hindu pilgrims returning from Ayodhya were killed in a fire aboard the Sabarmati Express near Gujarat’s Godhra railway station.

Shortly after the incident, riots erupted in Gujarat, targeting the Muslim minority. The cause of the train fire is still unknown, and the riots are thought to have been staged for political reasons. The Gujarat riots have been projected temporarily in a few places over time.
