Thackeray- 1st-week box office collection

Thackeray

The biopic movie called Thackeray featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the role of the late Shiv Sena Supremo – Bal Thackeray had a dull week. Despite getting positive reviews for the stellar performance of the actor, the film remained a niche that can only attract people of the Maharashtra state. Therefore the makers also released the movie in Marathi version as well which did better than the Hindi version. If you add the two collections, the film gets a decent score. Also, the competition posed to Thackeray by the historical drama movie called Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi also had a price to pay.

With the first-weekend box office collection not even reaching the double figure as well, in fact, on an average the film has collected 1.20 Crores, which at the end of the first week had a tiny figure to share. As per reports, the 1st-week box office collection for Thackeray went to around 15.55 Crores. On the other side, The M Town film had a decent collection after the 1st week giving a good figure. In fact, it was the Marathi version only that had helped the makers to earn from the biopic since many of the Marathi people feel a simple connection with the late leader. The experts have guessed such a pitiable condition of the movie.

One of the key reasons why the film failed in the Hindi belt was the unpopularity of this man which this film deals with. The only thing they can relate is Nawazuddin Siddiqui who really impressed the audience with his incredible performance. But it failed to attract the audience in the Hindi belt. Also, the anti-North Indian and South Indian campaigns led by the late leader is also shown in the film had made this man an object of hate among the people of Bihar, UP and other Northern states. Similarly, the South Indian states also had a similar image of the person, which kept them away to catch the film except the Marathi people catching it.
