Hollywood Movies That Were Inspired By Bollywood

Stop Blaming Bollywood all the time for copying some of its theme or story from Hollywood. Though this may be one of the biggest realities you keep on hearing about the copy cats being present in Bollywood who never leave the opportunity to copy good films from Hollywood, yet at times you can find the trend simply reversing. This kind of infringement simply went uncontrolled and unabated until the veterans from Hollywood were seen sniffing the racket at the East. Since then it has turned out to be a difficult task for the makers in the B town to blatantly plagiarise the Hollywood movies. However, you can find a number of instances wherein Hollywood movies are being inspired by Bollywood movies. Officially or unofficially there are number of filmmakers who were seen treading the path of Bollywood. ‘A Common Man’ in Hollywood from ‘A Wednesday’ in Bollywood

One of the popular films in Hollywood called – Common Man (starring Ben Kingsley and Ben Cross) is an award winning thriller; however, as you dig deep, it comes out to be a remake of ‘A Wednesday’. However, the script seems to have chosen the reconstructed plot yet the Chandran Rutnam, the director of the said movie has kept the entire storyline similar to A Wednesday. Thus this is one of the rare and interesting examples of Hollywood going for an official remake of any Hindi movie of the East otherwise Bollywood is more often being targeted to steal scripts from the Hollywood.

‘Fear’ in Hollywood from ‘Darr’ in Bollywood

Remember the SRK’s initial work called Darr released way back in 1993. It is seen to inspire its Hollywood counterpart called Fear. It was made in 2004, which carries a similar plot unlike you find in Darr wherein an obsession from a crazy stalker for a girl gets secured by her husband. However, the only difference you have in the two is that in Fear, the stalker is seen turning out girl’s boyfriend, while in Darr, he doesn’t seems to be her boyfriend. In fact, the scene wherein SRK carves the name of the girl on her chest too is replicated in Fear.

‘Win a Date With Tad Hamilton’ in Hollywood from ‘Rangeela’ in Bollywood

Though the makers of the movie Date With Tad Hamilton deny the claims of being inspiring from Rangeela, however, comparing the two can end up finding the same. There are lots of similarities seen in the two. Both the movies showcase sufficient vital stuff to prove out that it is being inspired by Rangeela in many ways. Both are based on a lovable street orphan who loses his heart to the famous actor in making, however, the only difference is that the lead role in Rangeela gets the role via audition.

‘The Reincarnation of Peter’ in Hollywood from ‘Madhumati’ in Bollywood

The idea of reincarnation seemed very much popular in the western movies via Hindi films like Maddhumati, which is found in its movies like Reincarnation of Peter in Hollywood. Interestingly, this Hollywood movie is based on a book having similar title. The movie at Bollywood embarked way back in 1958, while the novel was published in 1973 followed by the movie after a couple of years.

‘The Leap Year’ in Hollywood from ‘Jab We Met’ in Bollywood

Leap Year by Anand Tucker embarking in 2010 starring Amy Adams, Adam Scott and Matthew Goode is very much similar to the 2007 movie Jab We Met. As you dig deep, many of its instances are loosely based on this Hindi big hit. The similarity found in between the plots should in the movie can be easily traced and understood followed by a girl who simply on the way to meet her boyfriend and then finds him right to go ahead in his life. However, later finds the guy who helps her to find his place is being considered now as her new choice, while the original lover finds nothing at the end.

Though the entire movie is not being based on Deewar the popular hit movie of Big B and Shashi Kapoor, yet most of the portion has been based on this. The two brothers of Slumdog have been the same in many ways that of Deewar.

7).Just Go with from Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya

It is difficult though to believe the fact that many spectacular films in India gets popular overseas especially the ones based on Khans of Bollywood. The movie Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya starring Salman, Sohail and Katrina was caught as the fancy movie of Hollywood. It finally turned out to be Hollywood movie with the title ‘Just Go With It’. Adam Sandler was the man who made this movie, which really turned out a big hit out there.

8). ‘Hitch’ from Hollywood from Chhoti Se Baat in Bollywood

Hitch the popular Hollywood movie is among the inspired movie of Bollywood, which was taken by Chooti Si Baat. It is about a man who loves loneliness who is keen to woo for special type of women. Comparing the two, both the movies seem very much similar giving you another movie, which has been inspired by a Bollywood movie.

9). Patch Adam from Hollywood from ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ in Bollywood

Of course you remember Munnai Bhai character from the Raj Kumar Hirani’s movie Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai the dreaded gangsters who turn up an MBBS student and RJ respectively. In fact, Hollywood was seen getting inspired by this character and set forth to start with a movie called Patch Adam seems to have been launched with Chris Tucker the lead character in the said movie. The film is still in the pre production stage is still time to see in the theatres.

10). Delivery Man from Hollywood from Vicky Donor

Though there is no official confirmation about who inspired by whom yet the timing of movies hitting the theatres somewhere directs that the Delivery man is being inspired by Vicky Donor. Both the movies have similar kind of subject, which deals with sperm donation.
