Abhishek Bachchan is promoting his upcoming film Dasvi to the fullest. The actor is promoting the film not only in Mumbai but also in Delhi alongside his co-stars. In a recent interview with NDTV Good Times, Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat were discussing the film when the actress complimented Abhishek on his quick wit and clever humor.
While putting across her point of view, Nimrat revealed she is often stumped by Abhishek’s “quick-wittedness”. She further went on to mention Abhishek’s viral moment from the show which took place many years ago.
For the unversed, Abhishek Bachchan had appeared on the show with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Oprah had asked the couple about living in a joint family after getting married.
Abhishek further revealed, “Oprah said something, “I believe you’ll still live with your parents? what’s that like?.” Toh mujhe woh samajh mai nahi aaya. Maine unse pucha ki, “Do you live with your parents? She said no. I asked, What’s that like?”. Hum log desi log hai yaar. Hamari pratha hai ye. This is our normal. But then I realized, culturally, in America at 18 years of age they remove (the child outside the house). That whole joint family thing is nice. I like that.”
During that interview, Oprah had also asked Aishwarya and Abhishek why they don’t kiss on screen in their movies. Abhishek had said that in Indian films (at the time) intimacy was shown through song-and-dance numbers, because that was ‘more interesting’. Aishwarya was also asked a similar question about living with her parents in an appearance on Dave Letterman’s show, and her comeback is still popular online. “It is fine to live with your parents because it is also common in India that we don’t have to make appointments with our parents for dinner,” she’d said.
Even today, Desi people praise Abhishek Bachchan for his funny response to the old video from the talk program.
