EXCLUSIVE: 6 Bollywood personalities with successful radio gigs/shows on World Radio Day

In the recent past, a number of Bollywood celebrities have communicated with their fans via radio, away from the lights and cameras of Hollywood. Many Bollywood celebs have begun to sprinkle their celebrity inside radio studios, playing roles as varied as love guru, hands-on dad, or even agony aunt, after regaling their followers on the big screen. On the occasion of World Radio Day, we present 5 Bollywood celebrities who have made successful radio appearances.

1. Karan Johar – Calling Karan
Karan Johar took on the role of radio host for his show, ‘Calling Karan,’ which aired on a famous radio station. Karan serves as a love guru, advising callers on love and relationships. Each episode tackles a new topic, such as love triangles, hookups, office romance, and long-distance relationships, and Karan discusses them honestly and offers his personal advice/opinions on how to handle them. His industry acquaintances also phone him on occasion, asking his counsel on a variety of issues.

2. Kareena Kapoor – What Woman Want
Kareena Kapoor Khan has joined the radio fraternity, following in the footsteps of Karan Johar. In her show, ‘What Women Want,’ she interviews various celebrities and women about women’s issues.

3. Vidya Balan – Dhun Badal Ke Toh Dekho
After starring in the 2017 Hindi film ‘Tumhari Sulu,’ actor Vidya Balan has turned into a real-life RJ. Her show, ‘Dhun Badal Ke Toh Dekho,’ debuted on a radio station recently. Her show tackles a wide range of social issues, from domestic abuse to new age parenting. Vidya even made a rap song with the same name, and she rocked it like a boss!

4. Annu Kapoor – Suhana Safar
Annu Kapoor’s “Suhana Safar” allowed audiences the opportunity to hear songs from the Golden Era of Indian film music, which ran from 1955 until 1985. The show allowed listeners to relive the golden age year after year while being taken on an exciting journey in which the actor told behind-the-scenes stories, interesting facts and information about movies, and played the top 12 songs of the year.

5. Bhumi Pednekar – Climate Warrior
Bhumi’s radio show, ‘climate fighter,’ was created with the goal of drawing people’s attention to the importance of energy conservation. The Bollywood actor asked people to come together as a community and work toward energy conservation in order to keep a positive track on climate change, which is now racing out of control, through this show. Bhumi not only taught the users about the scary realities about nature, but she also made every effort to guarantee that each individual contributes to the cause in any small way they can. Bhumi, more power to you.

6. Aparshakti Khurana – Ishq Mein Kabhi Kabhi

Aparshakti in this series takes the listeners to the many forms of love through a range of emotions. “It is primarily storytelling through my voice. Although they are essentially love stories, they also have stories of betrayal, heartbreak and second chance,” he explains. Well, all we can say is, as an RJ, singer, comedian, anchor and television host, Aparshakti Khurana wears many hats with enthusiasm!
