Seems that Bollywood has been really doing well with its film delivering that has been taking it to record highest earnings on a global scale. The four super hit films following- Mission Mangal, Batla House, Saaho, Chhichhore and Dream Girl have been an unprecedented run for the Bollywood this season.
Since the Independence Day, there have been five films that have released just over four Fridays and turned out to be huge successes around the globe. Their combined collections have contributed to around Rs 700 crore already setting new record earnings for the industry.
These films are Mission Mangal, Batla House, Saaho, Chhichhore and Dream Girl.
While Mission Mangal and Batla House were released on the same day on the Independence Day weekend, Saaho released a couple of weeks, after. Chhichhore was released a week after and then soon arrived Dream Girl.
What transpired the record was an extraordinary audience, who continued to flock in the theatres week after week. Audiences across A, B and C centres that too in multiplexes, as well as single screens didn’t mind approaching each of these five films.
While Balki and Jagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal emerged as a blockbuster with collections going past the Rs 200 crore marks, Nikkhil Advani’s Batla House took a pause just a few lakh short of the Rs 100 crore marks. Sujeeth’s Saaho may have flopped down south but in the Hindi version, it has accumulated around Rs 50 crore.
Apart from these were biggies, the pleasant surprise came from Sajid Nadiadwala and Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore, which grew huge after a decent start mining down the Rs 150 crore club. On the other hand, Ekta Kapoor and debutant director Raaj Shaandilyaa’s Dream Girl has also enjoyed a dream run entering the Rs 100 crore club with effortless ease.
However, intermittent disappointments did follow in the form of The Zoya Factor, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas and Prassthanam but, the rest helped in making a record earnings for Bollywood.
