Ajay Devgn vs Kiccha Sudeep row: Manoj Bajpayee, Sonu Sood reacts to the Hindi debate

Yesterday, Ajay Devgn and Kiccha Sudeep indulged in a social media argument when both started giving their honest opinions on the Hindi language. Now the matter has become a national topic of debate and people from both the industries as well as netizens have also come out with their views on it.

Recently, Actor Manoj Bajpayee said, “Itni blockbuster ho rahi hai (there are so many blockbusters)… forget about Manoj Bajpayee and the likes of me for a minute, it has sent a shiver down the spine of all the mainstream filmmakers from the Mumbai film industry. They really don’t know where to look.”

The actor went on to say that the mainstream film industry needs to learn a few things quickly, “They are unapologetic, they are passionate, and every shot they take as if they are taking the best shot in the world…They shoot a film as they have envisioned it, they don’t dumb it down for the audience because they hold their audience in the highest regard and their passion is supreme. If you see Pushpa or RRR or KGF, the making of it – it is immaculate. Each and every frame is actually shot in a manner as if it were a life and death situation. This is what we lack. We started thinking about mainstream films only in terms of money and box office. We can’t criticise ourselves. So we differentiate them by calling them ‘alag’ (different). But it’s a lesson. This is a lesson for Mumbai industry mainstream filmmakers on how to make mainstream cinema.”

Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has criticized actor Ajay Devgn for claiming that Hindi is India’s national language. He also accused the actor of acting as a mouthpiece for the BJP.

Sonu has been in a lot of films from the south throughout the years. “I don’t think Hindi can be called just the national language. India has one language, which is entertainment. It doesn’t really matter which industry you belong to. If you entertain people, they will love you, honour you and accept you.”

“Gone are days when people used to say ‘leave your mind behind’. They won’t leave their mind behind and shell out thousands of rupees on an average film. Only good cinema will be accepted,” he also added.

Many netizens on social media have also mocked Ajay Devgn and begun trending a new hashtag #StopHindiImposition.
