Kharaj Mukherjee who is also known as Kharaj Mukhopadhyay is a Bengali actor, songwriter, composer and singer who also work in Bollywood movies. He was born on 7th July 1963 in Calcutta in a non-filmy family. He did his schooling and college from Kolkata itself and was very much active in the film of creativity that made him at the forefront in his college festivals and plays. He acted in a number of plays apart from being attached to several theatre groups wherein he tried a couple of things like writing and composing.

He is a multifaceted personality who tried many things including singing, writing, composing, song writing and acting. He started his career in Bengali projects like Hulusthul and Lattoo but unfortunately these remained unreleased. His next venture was Tak Jhal Mishti, Patalghar and Shunyo E Buke. His debut in Bollywood was with the film Parineeta in 2006 wherein he sung one song for the same. Some of his other Bollywood movies wherein he has worked in different segments like acting, singing or composing of song include  Special 26, Lafangey Parindey, Yuva, Parineeta, Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Chhoyechhuti and Jaatishwarto name a few.

He will be seen in Abhimaan and Kahaani 2 in similar roles apart from the supporting character he plays in the latter, which is the venture of Sujoy Ghosh. Well, in the prequel as well, Kharaj has played the character of a police inspector, which is again to be repeated in the sequel. As far as the rewards and recognition are concerned, he has been awarded the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award for the category of Best Male Playback Award in 2004 for the film Patalghar.Talking about his personal life, he is still unmarried as too busy with his film career in Regional and other cinema.
