Zomato Enters Into the OTT Rivalry War with its Original Content

After making the doorstep food delivery service convenient for the local people, Zomato has made its entry into the OTT world. The three to 15 minute-episodes from Zomato OTT screening platform is available on the latest version of the Zomato app starting from 16 September.

The Zomato video experience will be including Zomato Originals, which is going to be available for streaming in India. However, the Sneak Peek and recipe videos of the same are accessible across any place in the world.

With this, Netflix and Amazon are now going to have competition from their unexpected quarters. Food delivery app Zomato with its announcement of foray into the field of web streaming has started streaming 18 of its original shows over the next three months, starting from 16 September.

The three to 15 minute-episodes has now started streaming on the latest version of the Zomato app starting 16 September. These have been primarily be shot in a vertical frame, which makes it ideal for app-based mobile viewing as stated by the company. These will come under the new ‘video’ tab on the app and will be categorized as per the genre across shows, recipes and Sneak Peek restaurant stories.

The Zomato video experience is making its launch with 2000+ videos that will include Zomato Originals, available for streaming in India, while Sneak Peek and recipe videos are globally accessible.

As learnt, all the Zomato original shows will be cantered around food, but will be engaging with the formats like comedy, reality, fiction, advice and celebrity interviews. The shows will include titles such as Food and You with Sanjeev Kapoor, three-minute daily show that breaks myths and changes the way you think about food and your body, Banake Dikha with stand-up comic Sumukhi Suresh, Starry meals with Janice, starring the social media star Janice Sequeira taking a romp across some of the famous Bollywood kitchens.

Zomato also released a statement made by Deepinder Goyal, CEO and Founder, Zomato in this account mentioning, “We are constantly looking for new ways to engage our users around food. Most of our users visit our app several times a week. This presents us with an opportunity to further delight our users using Zomato Originals.”
