Prajakta Koli, Freida Pinto, Charithra Chandran Set to Voice ‘She Creates Change’ Series, Focused on Driving Gender Equality

Prajakta Koli, a content creator, actress, and climate activist currently involved in the filming of Mismatched 3, is set to lend her voice to the world’s first non-profit film series, “She Creates Change.” This groundbreaking series, curated by global education nonprofit Room to Read, aims to promote gender equality and literacy in low-income communities, believing that educated women have the power to change the world. The six-episode short film series portrays the stories of six girls from historically low-income communities in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Vietnam. These girls face unique challenges in their lives and learn to harness their inner strength, advocate for themselves, and shape their futures using specific life skills.

Combining animation and live-action documentary, the series addresses themes such as climate justice, financial literacy, food insecurity, child marriage, discrimination, menstruation, and sexual harassment. The project also features voiceovers from prominent actors and advocates worldwide, including Freida Pinto, Charithra Chandran, Dilshad Vadsaria, Adhir Kalyan, Amita Suman, Amrita Acharia, and Quyen Ngo.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the film series will premiere on March 8, 15, and 22 to audiences in Asia, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. Additionally, it will be showcased as an official selection at the Tribeca Festival, Manchester Animation Festival, London Short Film Festival, and the British Animation Awards later this year.

Prajakta Koli expressed her deep honor in being the voice of Dewmini, a character deeply rooted in climate advocacy and girls’ education and empowerment. She emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping the futures of young girls from various regions, underscoring the importance of sparking meaningful conversations and driving action towards ensuring every girl’s right to education.

Freida Pinto praised Room to Read’s efforts, highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting young women in learning and envisioning their own futures, emphasizing the transformative power of education.

Geetha Murali, CEO of Room to Read, emphasized the organization’s goal to reach all 432 million adolescent girls in the world with content that helps them overcome challenges and discover their own power to shape their futures. She expressed gratitude for Prajakta Koli’s shared commitment to accelerating equality for young women and praised the impact of partners like her in making “She Creates Change” approachable and inspirational to a large number of girls. Through this project, Room to Read aims to help girls develop skills, identify accessible role models, and catalyze the dignity they need to overcome limiting gender norms.
