Shabana Azmi Set To Star in Steven Spielberg’s Web Series ‘Halo’

Shabana Azmi Blasted on MediaActor Shabana Azmi is taking up new assignments inspired from the popularly growing world of web series. In fact, news has been coming up that the veteran actress has signed up for a role in an upcoming web series titled, Halo. This new web series will be produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by BAFTA award-winning director Otto Bathurst of Robin Hood fame. The series Halo will be on Halo- one of the most popular video game franchises that rolls on a global scale with over 77 million copies sold since its initial release in 2001. The series will be coming from Showtime, Amblin Television and Microsoft.

Actor Shabana Azmi has been signed for a significant role in Halo.

When queried on the same, the veteran actress said, “It can’t get bigger than this,” said Shabana in response to the news. “Asian actors have been fighting for colour-neutral casting for years. Finally it’s become a reality! This is completely new territory for me. I’m both excited and nervous, which is a good place to be in.”

When asked about how she managed to bag such a significant part of this web series, Shabana replied on a popular media platform, “It just fell into my lap. I had to give up two projects I was scheduled to do here but I figured it would be worth it.”

Halo has been described as it’s “most ambitious series ever” as per Showtime and is set to begin production in Budapest later this year. Natascha McElhone, Bokeem Woodbine, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac and Kate Kennedy are also some of the prime faces who are a part of the drama, which is going to explore the conflict between humanity and an alien race known as the Covenant in the 26th century.

In the series, Azmi will be playing the role of Admiral Margaret Parangosky- head of the Office of Naval Intelligence. Pablo Schreiber will be essaying the role of the iconic Master Chief while McElhone (Designated Survivor, Californication) will be playing as Cortana, the most advanced AI in human history that is likely to be the key to the survival of the human race. Emmy nominee Woodbine (Fargo, Spider-Man: Homecoming) plays Soren-066- a morally complex privateer at the fringes of civilization.
