Plot

The film is based on a novel with the same title Parinda Joshi. It deals with a Gujarati businessman called Raghuvir Mehta played by Rajkummar Rao. He happens to be a down-on-his-luck entrepreneur, who tend to fail in his every new business venture, which he embarks upon. But when he plans a trip to China, it promises the change in his fate as he is seen bring the bait. However, at the same time, he remains the prime suspect in the Chinese General’s murder in India. So, what goes next is interesting to explore in the nearby cinema.

Review
At one go, the film appears to be a crime investigative story. We see the sudden death of a Chinese General after he consumes a cup of Chinese ‘Magic Soup’. This leads to the owner of the soup company who happens to be Raghuvir who is called to take the audience to the bottom of this mystery. And then you have the flashback as to how the Gujarati business fails and then finally makes on the top with his business venture after his visit to China. In a sense, one can call the film to be a ‘foreplay’ part of the narrative right, but at the same time, the real action appears to be a misfire. Yet it remains interesting by chuckling your face later converting into a full-on laugh riot.

Now, talking about the performances, Rajkumar Rao playing the Gujju businessman is simply endearing heartfelt and sincere in his role while playing the under-confident Raghu. His chemistry with Mouni Roy seems interesting while the lady has put a decent effort in her role. Boman Iran is certainly a delight to catch him on the silver screen playing Dr. Vardhi with his incredible performance. On the other side, Gajraj Rao, Sumeet Vyaas and Paresh Rawal have also impressed the audience in a big way. The makers were able to catch the Ahmedabad setting the best way, however, on the flip side, the story goes weak at times digressing the audience in some way or the other. The other elements like music, photography, screenplay, dialogues, and editing went par adding values to the entertainment of the film.

Made In China – The Last Word

The film Made in China has a message of normalizing talk show around sex and exposing the hypocrisy and taboo surrounding the subject. A commendable effort though by the makers but at times it goes preachy as well. But with all said and done, Made in China are way and worth a watch, thanks to Rajkumar Rao’s acting prowess.
