‘Master’ will get big benefit after the permission confirmed to re-open cinema hall in Kerala
The Malayalam film industry has been a major relief. Indeed, the Corona epidemic caused the industry a major loss. Thereafter, on January 1, the Kerala government announced on Friday that it would allow the reopening of theaters in the state from January 5. However, theaters will have to follow the protocol of Covid-19 with 50 percent capacities on occupancy. The announcement brought a major relief to the Malayalam film industry. Subsequently, top officials of the Kerala Film Chambers plan to meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday to get government support including tax exemption and concession on the electricity bill.
Actually, this is not the first time theater owners have tried it. Earlier, the delegation had tried to meet during the recently concluded panchayat elections but this was not possible. Significantly, in October theaters across the country were allowed to reopen with 50 percent seating capacity and other security protocols. However, the Kerala government remained firm on its stand and did not allow the film screening to resume. About 670 theaters remained closed in the state since last March.
The government’s decision is an important at time when Vijay’s much-awaited film Master is set to release on 13 January. Vijay is going to be followed in large numbers in Kerala. The Kerala distribution rights for ‘Master’ have been acquired by actor Prithviraj and producer Listin Stephen. And it is going to be an important task for theater owners to prepare to reopen with the Covid protocol in place within the next two weeks.
