Since the announcement by the studios and Netflix that there will be a sequel to Chris Hemsworth’s critically acclaimed action thriller Extraction, moviegoers have been anxiously anticipating the second installment.

Their wait is finally over, as the teaser has been released, and Tyler Rake is ready to place his life on the line once more to save innocent people. The cleverly edited trailer only raises the stakes and heightens the audience’s enthusiasm.

The two-minute teaser is a visual treat, particularly for fans of action films. It begins with an absolutely terrified girl sitting in a prison cell, and then Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) appears as her saviour.

But, as anticipated, it quickly turns into absolute mayhem as he stands alone against a swarm of other attackers. One can’t help but notice parallels with Daredevil’s prison fight in season 3.

The teaser also shows him getting violently smacked on the head, and we discover that Tyler Jake was declared clinically dead nine months ago. In addition, the teaser promises some well-choreographed violent action set pieces. What catches your attention is how the teaser immediately drops you right into the centre of the chaos, making you feel like you’re a part of it all.

Although this teaser does not reveal anything about the plot or the rest of the characters, it does make it obvious that, like its predecessor, we will be treated to non-stop action in this thriller.

Extraction 2 is directed by Sam Hargreaves, who also directed the first installment. Joe Russo of the Russo siblings wrote the screenplay for the film. The picture also stars Daniel Bernhardt, Golshifteh Farahani, Sinead Phelps, Adam Bessa, and Tinatin Dalakishvii in addition to Chris Hemsworth.

For the uninitiated, the first installment of Extraction was released directly on Netflix in June 2020 and got mostly positive feedback from the audience, particularly action film fans.

Extraction 2 will be available on Netflix on June 16th. Meanwhile, you can view the new teaser video below.
