Vivek Agnihotri Speaks Out About Casting His Wife Pallavi Joshi in His Film: “She Adds Depth and Complexity to the Character

Known for his hard-hitting films that bring out the truth, Vivek Agnihotri has said that he only works with National Award-winning actors who are great at their craft. The director, who is known to wear his heart on his sleeve, is gearing up for the release of his next film, ‘The Vaccine War’. The trailer of the film was recently launched in Mumbai and has created quite a stir in the country.

The film is based on the true story of the development of India’s first COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin. It stars Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, and others. Agnihotri is known for his controversial films, such as ‘The Tashkent Files’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’. However, he has also received critical acclaim for his work. The trailer of ‘The Vaccine War’ has been praised for its powerful and moving portrayal of the challenges faced by the scientists who developed Covaxin. The film is scheduled to be released on September 28.

Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘The Vaccine War’ features his wife Pallavi Joshi, who is also the producer of the film and plays a scientist. When asked why he cast his wife in the film, Agnihotri said: “I don’t cast mediocre actors. I cast National Award-winning actors. Pallavi is a great actress and that is why she finds a place in my film. Moreover, she is a senior to me in the industry. She brings dimensions and dynamics to the character which my writing does not provide. She is smart and intelligent and it is always fun to work with intelligent actors.”

Agnihotri has previously worked with Joshi in his films ‘The Tashkent Files’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’. The couple has been married for over 20 years and have two children together. The Vaccine War is scheduled to be released on September 28.
