Jitendra Kumar’s Panchayat 2, Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday, and many other amazing web series arrived on OTT this year, becoming the much-talked-about offerings of 2022. Well, the year is about to end, and we can’t forget this year for bringing some binge-worthy series to the audience. OTT went beyond the boundaries this year to introduce content that matters and aligns with the taste of the audience. Rather than using star power and formula-driven scripts, digital mediums focused on creating instructive and entertaining content.

Since theatres closed in 2022, filmmakers and even actors have experimented with digital platforms. Before we say goodbye to 2018, let’s take a look at some of the year’s most talked-about web series.

1. Panchayat 2
The very first season of Panchayat, starring Jitendra Kumar, grabbed eyeballs. Its season did even better, and we were taken back to Phulera village to witness Panchayat Secretary Abhishek Tripathi. We saw him again, attempting to strike a work-life balance and changing his equation with the people of the village in this web series.

2. The Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power
The year of prequels and sequels, 2022, brought another great offering on Amazon Prime Video. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is based thousands of years ago on the occurrences of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien. While you recognise some familiar faces, the newcomers astound you. How the old and fresh faces team up to face the threat to Middle Earth is worth watching.

3. House of Dragons 
In this prequel to ‘Game of Thrones,’  we got to witness the journey of how the rule of House Targaryen began. This was the year’s most anticipated web series, and it connects to George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. It will transport you 200 years before Game of Thrones events.

4. Stranger Things S4
Launched in 2016, the series had set standards with every successive season, and the fourth season took it to another level. With a thrilling summary of the pot, Netflix raised the excitement of fans by quoting, “Darkness is back to Hawkins just in time for spring break, igniting fresh terror, troubling memories, and an alarming new threat.”

5. Rocket Boys
Rocket Boys made a big buzz on OTT this year as this biographical drama won the hearts of the audience. This web series tells about the lives of two great Indian scientists, Dr. Homi Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, narrating a significant period of our history.

6. While Lotus S2
White Lotus was lauded for its brilliant sarcastic take on society in season 1, which dealt with the exploitation of several guests and workers at a resort in Hawaii. While the second season was somewhat similar to the first, the climax, with its intricate revelations and the popular White Lotus mystery and death, left viewers stunned.

7. Modern Love Mumbai
This year, Amazon Prime Video released a rom-com collection of six distinct but relatable stories about human bonds. You will get to watch the portrayal of love in different forms at its best.

8. Delhi Crime S2
DCP Vartika reprising her role and investigating the complicated case of the Kacha Baniyan gang was an eye-opener for the audience. It was based on lessons from the Khaki files.

9. Wednesday
When it’s about the much-talked-about Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday, it cannot be missed. The fierce avatar, impactful dialogues, and killer moves of Wednesday Adams brought her a huge fan base. The series got so much attention that it became one of the most-viewed series in 2022.

10. Gullak Season 3
This web series brings an amusing tale to which every middle-class family can relate. The story of the Mishra family is narrated so simply that the audience is spellbound.
