Five Breathtaking Road Trips In Europe You Have To Take

It’s difficult to narrow down the best road trips in Europe—there are so many beautiful drives and journeys to be had. But if you’re looking for a driving tour with plenty of history, breathtaking landscapes, and unique cultural experiences, these five itineraries should be your go-to choices:

Paris to Provence, France

The first stop on your road trip is Paris, one of the most romantic cities in the world. Cross the city via a road that leads you through some of France’s most famous wine regions. From there, head south-east and visit Marseille. There are many reasons why it is one of France’s most iconic cities – it’s got a rich history as an important harbour town and hosts renowned annual festivals celebrating world cultures – but its location right next to Corsica makes it an alluring destination too. It’s also close to Nice and Cannes, making it easy for you to spend more time exploring this part of the country. So pick up a car rental in Europe and take advantage of the wide range of vehicles available so that you can explore this beautiful country at your own pace.

Berlin to Prague, Czech Republic

Start your journey at the Brandenburg Gate. Go up Unter den Linden and turn right onto Großer Stern. Then head down Chausseestrasse for about 800m, before turning left on Hohenzollerndamm, which will take you past Jannowitzbrücke and Wittenbergplatz to Friedrichstrasse. Turn right and you’ll be confronted with the most impressive building in Berlin – the Reichstag, the seat of the German parliament. The best way to see it is from the outside so drive around until you’re facing it. If you can’t get close enough, go inside and explore its modern architecture or visit the glass dome on top that offers panoramic views over Berlin.

Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden

With a total of seven hours on the road between the two destinations, this is a perfect opportunity for you to take it easy and enjoy scenic views without having to plan all your activities. While there’s plenty of beautiful country between Copenhagen and Stockholm, a few sights not be missed along the way are Baltic Sea views from Kalmar Castle and Öresund Bridge – where you can see some of Denmark’s most picturesque villages on one side, while Sweden greets you with unspoiled nature on the other.

Porto to Lisbon, Portugal

Porto and Lisbon, Portugal are only a 3-hour drive apart, which is why these two cities often serve as both an easy day trip and evening destination. As Porto has been called the world’s new food capital (with more Michelin stars than Paris) and Lisbon was just named one of Lonely Planet’s 10 best places to visit in 2019, it might be hard to decide which city you want to visit first.

Barcelona, Spain

One of the best things about travelling through Europe is being able to explore the diverse and rich culture that takes up all of the continent. Many people are not aware, but Spain is one of the countries located on the European mainland, near France and North Africa.
